Having a family picnic is one of the easiest ways to bond with your loved ones in the summertime. This traditional activity is fun for the whole family. If you’re responsible for making the food this year, why not make this joyous occasion a healthy one too. Here are 3 alternative to traditional family picnic foods that are just a little healthier.
1. Potato Chips & Ranch Dip -> Organic Tortilla Chips and Salsa or Hummus

Chips and all their greasy goodness is a finger food favorite among American families. We just love dipping our dips in fatty ranch dressing. if you don’t to give up on the potato chip tradition, you can opt for baked chips and even dabble in the organic chip world. There is a myriad of organic tortilla chips at your local supermarket that have your name on it. Opting for organic chips and fresh salsa or hummus gives you the same dipping joy of ranch dip but it’s far less fattening.
2. Sandwiches with with Mayonnaise -> Sandwiches Whipped Avocado

Many people feel like a sandwich just isn’t complete without mayonnaise. We get it, but there are so many alternatives. Our favorite condiment to wipe out the mayo craze is avocado. With your favorite spices and a little salt to taste, avocado knocks mayonnaise out of the park! You get the creamy texture of a spread without all the junk found in traditional mayonnaise. Your burgers and turkey sandwiches just got a little better.
3. Juice Boxes + Soda -> Fresh Juice and Bottled Water

Parents love the convenience of juice boxes and children love the fizzy taste of soda pop. We all know the preservatives and sugary contents found in these easy access drinks aren’t so great for the body. We recommend taking the time to do some juicing before you hit the park at your picnic. These fresh flavors are always a hit with any crowd! Gather up your favorite and most flavorful fruits and make a drink to remember. As always, don’t forget the water. These fresh alternatives keep you hydrated and offer nutritional benefits you just can’t find in a can of soda.

Mom Christine Barlow is the inventor of 5 Phases eco-friendly and non-toxic baby bottles, the safest and healthiest way to bottle feed your baby. Her inspiration in creating an alternative to traditional feeding bottles came after the birth of her 1lb 7oz micro-preemie baby. Having a compromised child, she became aware how environmental factors were affecting our children. With all the concerns of plastics and infants being the most vulnerable, she felt there was a need for more options for parents who wanted to use glass. She knew she had to act – and the 5 Phases Hybrid Glass Baby Bottles were born.
5 Phases is dedicated to helping families achieve a healthier and organic lifestyle. Starting with baby, they develop products keeping both the environment and health of your family in mind. And when it comes to your baby nothing else will do – Christine knows, she’s a mom too!
